Affordable shared housing for men in trades or trades training programs
We have worked with several individuals recently who work at a good paying job (or 3) but go ‘home’ to sleep in a tent, their car, or a shelter. And sometimes, safe, affordable, hopeful housing can be the difference between finishing a training program or not, shaping the trajectory of a person’s life. We are thrilled to be able to provide this piece of the puzzle for those who need it.
Referrals for housing at Ayub’s House come from Windermere House and Community Builders.
About Ayub
The house is named after Ayub, a young man who completed the trades training program at Community Builders and found full-time employment but could not find permanent housing. He was killed tragically.
His mom and sister shared a message at the opening of Ayub’s House:
“I cannot thank you and your team enough for your dedication on this project. I know with all my heart that Ayub is smiling down at us with his sweet smile. Whenever I think about my brother, I remember his bright smile. He had one for everybody he met along the way. He loved his work family so much and always shared how much love everyone showed him. The sense of compassion and community he felt is still being felt by our whole family today. It is an honour and great pleasure to know that his love for helping others will live on through Ayub’s House. Thank you sincerely for this honour to help celebrate the life and legacy of our beloved Ayub.”
Inside Ayub’s House
